5 Things I Do To Be At Peace In Any Situation

Simple Ways To Live A Calm And Meaningful Life

Do you want to be at peace always? Do you want to keep yourself serene, still, calm in any situation? Do you want to live a life in tune with Nature? A few years ago, I eagerly wanted to live a peaceful life. But I didn’t know how to deal with all the negativity which prevented me from living a calm and peaceful life. After trying a lot, I have found my answers. In this article, I am going to share my life journey of finding peace.

I used to be very frustrated when I found myself in any difficult situation. As a result, it used to be very difficult for me to get out of any problem. Because a frustrated and anxious mindset didn’t allow me to think properly. When I am at peace, I can think wisely, and I can find a proper solution to any problem. But the question is how can a person be at peace when something unpleasant happens to him/her?

It’s absolutely possible to be calm even if something unpleasant takes place in life.

Now, I am going to share some tips which I follow to always be at peace.

1. I accept the Present moment : I know that it is difficult to accept our present moment if it is unpleasant. But to accept the present situation is the only one effective solution to deal with it. I didn’t accept any thing, person, and situation as it is. I used to resist the truth and make judgments about them. That is why I felt resentment, frustration within me. For example, when something bad happened to me, I always tried to go against it, I couldn’t tolerate it. Moreover, I didn’t try to accept the truth. I used to wish that if I could go to the past with the help of a time machine, I would prevent the situation from taking place. This kind of mindset was the root cause of my suffering, anxiety, and frustration.

We can’t change the NOW because it has already taken place. So what is the benefit of resisting it? I realized If I can accept the present moment as it is, if I can accept the truth, I can feel peace within me.

Accepting my present moment doesn’t mean that I can’t try to change the unpleasant situation of my life. Yes, I can take the required steps to get out of an unpleasant situation. When I accept the ‘NOW’, I am at ease and I can think wisely and don’t end up making a wrong decision.

2. I don’t make judgements and give quick reactions to anything or anyone: I tended to make quick judgments about anyone and any situation. I used to think of what people should have done or what they shouldn’t have done. This kind of thought used to create uneasiness within me.

Then I realized that I shouldn’t make any judgment about anyone because I didn’t know their whole story. It’s really not fair to make judgment by seeing only one part of their life story. Moreover, a person’s behavior depends on his/ her circumstances, the society in which he/she has been brought up. His/her thoughts is the accumulation of all situations he/she has been going through. When I don’t make any judgment about them in my mind, I can be at peace. Then there is no resistance within me. Everything is peaceful and serene. If I don’t agree with them on any matter, I can still say ‘NO’ to them but that would be nonreactive. I think we need to be compassionate to everyone. This world would be beautiful if we could do that.

3. I don’t take my mind’s chatter seriously: My mind used to create negative stories. I used to get frustrated by believing those stories. This was like an unknown fear. Fear of something which doesn’t exist. It was not possible for me to be at peace with this kind of mindset. Moreover, it affected my concentration a lot. I used to live in the future. I used to rehearse the action I would take If something bad happened.

One day, I decided to do something about it. I read many self help books and got to know that we should not identify ourselves with our mind. I am not my mind. After trying for a long time, I have been able to ignore my mind’s chatter. I play the role of an ‘Observer’. I observe my mind’s activity carefully. If my mind creates something unpleasant, I don’t care anymore rather I grasp my thoughts and turn them into something pleasant. It’s really possible because we are the creator of our thoughts. We can create our thoughts the way we want. When we have the power of creating our thoughts, let us make something beautiful and pleasant.

4. I am not too serious about my life : I know it may sound weird. But that’s the truth. I know very well that life is brief. I want to enjoy every moment of my life. I don’t want to postpone my happiness. I don’t think I will start living my life properly after achieving something. Life is nowhere, life is now here.

Moreover, I am not part of the rat race. I don’t want any desire for something to destroy my present life situation. I like every little little thing around me. I like to stare at a still pond for a long time, I like to hear the chirping of birds, I like to observe the trees and flowers. Everyday I spend some time absolutely doing nothing. Life is really very very beautiful if we can understand the true essence of life.

5. I don’t compare my life with others : I don’t want to be someone else. I don’t want to live my life like somebody else. That is why, there is no need to compare my life with others. There is no competition. There is no longing for something.

It’s my life journey. I want to live an intentional and meaningful life. I know very well what I need to live such a life. Why do I need to copy others? This kind of mindset always helps me to be at peace.

I know it’s not always possible to be happy because we go through different kinds of life situations. But we can at least be at peace in any situation. The above mentioned steps help me deal with any kind of situation with ease. I can feel a calmness and peace within me. I have got one chance to live this life and I don’t want to waste a single moment being anxious, frustrated and afraid. Life is amazing. I love my life.
