All modern web browsers allow users to save passwords and emails used to log into various sites. These credentials are stored by the browser and are used to automatically complete the respective login forms.
I am using Google Chrome for this demonstration but all modern browsers should have something very similar to what I have included in this article.
Navigate to the settings page of your browser by clicking the hamburger icon(three dots) at the top right corner and selecting the settings option on the drop-down that appears.
Click on the arrow to the far right of the passwords text to reveal all saved passwords.
A drop-down of all saved passwords appears.
Clicking on the eye icon prompts you to enter the device’s password before letting you view the saved password as normal text.
You will be required to provide the device’s password before the password text is revealed.
Navigate to the login page where the login credentials are auto-filled into the login form by the browser.
Right click on the password input box and select the inspect or the inspect element option.
A window with some highlighted HTML text appears.
Find the variable type=”password” and double click on “password” to select it.
Press Backspace to delete “password” and replace it with “text” instead.
Press Enter to ‘save’ this change and you should now see the password revealed as a normal text input.
Thank you for reading.
